WHY WE LOVE IT

1. It doesn't make your hair greasy. This serum is very light and gel-watery, so if you have hair like mine, it dries down quickly on the hair shaft so your hair doesn't look like an oil slick. However, if your hair appreciates more oils, you'll still appreciate this serum for its irritation-soothing qualities for the scalp.

I wouldn't rely on this product for hair growth per se, for that we also need to boost our Kidney energy and blood quality internally in addition to topical support. That said, scalp irritation and inflammation can obstruct healthy follicle and hair production. I wash my hair 2-3x per week, so I especially like using this serum on that second or third day post wash-day to keep my scalp calm and comfortable.
3. The bottle and applicator is so fun! The bottle is what made me add to cart because it solves everything I hate about scalp product application. You squeeze the serum out through soft silicone bristles right onto your scalp - mostly bypassing the hair - and apply in strokes. You can even do a bit of massaging as you apply. It's literally so fun that it makes me want to use it multiple times per day - but I don't because that's overboard. They even have an on/off twist function that lets you travel with it and the serum won't leak out! I mean...
4. I approve of what's in it. The formula is built around caffeine to support circulation, hydrators like glycerin and betaine, and soothing herbs like Yu Xing Cao (heartleaf) and high mountain tea  (camellia) to calm irritation. Menthol and eucalyptus give you an immediate cooling sensation, but more importantly help clear heat and settle that underlying hot, itchy, inflamed scalp feeling that can build up between wash days. Note: it does have denatured alcohol to help penetration but I have not found that drying at all, nor have I found any user reviews reporting that (and I went down the rabbit hole!).
5. It's perfect for daily wear, but not a moisturizer. Because of the light formulation it's easy to use daily, but that said it's more of a scalp soother and less of a moisturizer. For that, I still like to incorporate scalp oiling on my wash days (2-3x week).
